I am interested in issues concerning the sustainability of water supply, especially in undeveloped countries. I am interested in developing numerical models to analyze river hydraulics, hydrology, and water quality parameters that can be used by decision-makers to make informed decisions on water use policies. I am currently working on the statewide floodplain mapping project. My role is to sharpen the step-by-step procedure of floodplain mapping developed previously in the pilot study by IFC and DNR. Some GIS-based python scripts are developed to enable the effectiveness of discharge estimation for the hydraulics model. The ultimate goal of this project is to provide more accurate regulatory statewide floodplain maps, taking advantage of the statewide LiDAR data’s increased topographic resolution.
