I am interested in constructing inundation models that allow simulations to be completed much faster than conventional two-dimensional models, and provide more flow details than one-dimensional models. I am currently finishing mapping for Cedar Falls and Waterloo. These inundation map “libraries” and more efficient modeling techniques will move us a step closer to near real-time prediction of flooding events which will help governments make decisions to protect the inhabitants of flood prone areas and will help citizens understand their risks and make better-informed decisions.
